Roughly 150 youths are getting an education in conservation this summer, and a paycheck to go with it.
Much of their work is in Cook County forest preserves in the south and west suburbs, including Sweet Woods in Glenwood, where an orientation program June 28 included a visit from Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. She called the Forest Preserves of Cook County program a “great opportunity” not just to work but learn about the outdoors.
