On October 30, 2023, the Housing Authority of Cook County participated in a very beneficial event hosted by CEDA. The theme is tied to weatherization, but we know that CEDA encompasses much more regarding our HACC residents. Our relationship with CEDA is as important as ever when you factor in our rental assistance program for returning citizens and our other forward-thinking initiatives.

 National Weatherization Day is celebrated on October 30 each year. It’s a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of weatherizing our homes and buildings. Weatherization refers to making our homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and environmentally friendly. This can involve insulating walls and attics, sealing air leaks, upgrading heating and cooling systems, and using energy-efficient appliances and lighting. The main goal of weatherization is to reduce energy consumption and lower utility bills while also improving indoor comfort and air quality. It’s a great way to make our homes more sustainable and contribute to a greener future.
