Kimball Court Apartments is privately owned and operated. Residents of this development are required to pay 30% of their income in rent while the HACC subsidizes the remainder. Kimball Court is a permanent supportive housing community with studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom project-based voucher (PBV) units. The PBV program is a rental assistance program where the resident pays 30% of his/her income towards the rent to the owner and the HACC subsidizes the remainder. Kimball Court Apartments offers supportive services through its partnership with Sertoma Centre, a community based mental health provider. To be eligible for Kimball Court Apartments, applicants MUST be disabled and need support services in order to live independently. Preference will be given to applicants who would most benefit from the supportive services provided on-site, which include help with medication monitoring, mental illness and substance abuse symptom management, harm reduction and recovery services, and skill-building in the areas of independent community living and benefits assistance. Applicants currently on the HACC’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waitlist will also receive preference over other applicants.

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program provides rental assistance to help low income persons afford decent and safe rental housing. HCV Programs are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and administered by public housing agencies throughout the country. The Housing Authority of Cook County (the HACC) is the housing agency that administers an HCV Program in Suburban Cook County.
