In November, the Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) came together at three of its family communities: Richard Flowers Community Housing in Robbins, Vera Yates Homes in Ford Heights, and Sunrise Apartments in Chicago Heights.
In colder regions, not having a proper coat can lead to missed school days, limited outdoor activity, and increased health risks during the winter months. Recognizing this reality, HACC hosted its annual coat giveaway. Coats were distributed to families, providing warmth, comfort, dignity, and protection against the harsh Midwest winter.
This initiative was about more than outerwear. It was about showing families that they are seen and supported. It ensured that children could walk to school warmly bundled, that parents could breathe a little easier, and that households could face the season with greater confidence.
