Director of Strategy and Planning

SUMMARY
The Director of Strategy and Planning is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of internal operations and the successful planning and execution of projects that support the Housing Authority of Cook County’s (HACC’s) strategic plan. Serving as a senior-level advisor and support to the Executive Director, this role drives cross-functional collaboration, oversees special initiatives, and works to improve internal processes and outcomes in alignment with the agency’s mission and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify, plan, and execute high-impact operational and strategic projects.
• Serve as liaison between executive leadership and operational teams to maintain alignment on priorities.
• Develop status reports, dashboards, and briefings for leadership and the Board of Commissioners.
• Gain a solid understanding of HACC’s key initiatives, competitive priorities, and accountabilities to ensure linkage of efforts with the strategic plan, mission, and vision.
• Collaborate with executive staff on the creation of a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit entity to receive grant funding from philanthropic resources to fund services for HACC residents.
• Performs all duties in accordance with Authority policies.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ability to work independently with initiative to manage assigned projects; utilize creativity to plan and execute projects; conduct complex research projects, evaluate alternatives, and prepare effective reports.
• Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops to maintain current knowledge of processes; promote agency through participation in outreach initiatives.
• Prepare and analyze a variety of reports, provide research information for leadership, and respond to correspondence.
• Complies with applicable job-related local, state, and federal regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated computer literacy including knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Yardi, PowerPoint and related applications.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent degree in real estate, finance, economics, or public or business administration or in a related field of study from a four-year accredited college or university.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in functional areas of affordable housing.

SALARY
The salary for this position is $100,000 – $125,000.
