(Cook County, IL) – The Housing Authority of Cook County’s social service website, beWELL: WORK. EARN. LIVE. LEARN. A Cook County Guide, has been named the recipient of the 2018 Gold Horizon Interactive Award, Websites – Government Agency.

Designed and developed in partnership with Clarity Partners Inc., beWELL is a comprehensive, web-based tool designed to connect residents to community resources and opportunities throughout suburban Cook County. The website provides easy, online access to educational, occupational and supportive resources available for residents and their families across Chicagoland.

“I applaud the HACC team for their work on the beWELL website and congratulate the organization on this achievement,” said Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. “Connecting Cook County’s most vulnerable residents to resources and social services is at the core of our mission. To do so in a way that is both creative and accessible is deserves recognition. This website is sure to provide a platform for residents seeking access to educational, occupational and health-related opportunities for years to come.”

In its 17th year, the Horizon Interactive Awards was created to recognize excellence in interactive media production worldwide. Since 2001, the competition has received tens of thousands of entries from many countries around the world and nearly all 50 US States.  Each year, those entries are narrowed down to the “best of the best” to be recognized and promoted on and international stage for their excellence. The judging process involves a blend of the Horizon Interactive Awards advisory panel, an end user panel and an international panel of volunteer judges consisting of industry professionals. Winning entries have been dubbed the “best of the best” in the interactive media industry.

“This website is meant to act as a guide for HACC residents, wherever they might be in life right now,” said Richard Monocchio, Executive Director of HACC. “We’re excited this guide is being recognized for the powerful tool that it is and grateful to the Horizon Interactive Awards for shining a light on our efforts to connect suburban Cook County’s low-income residents to the resources they need to accomplish their goals,” he added.
