Housing Authority of Cook County Residents Receive New Energy Star Refrigerators Christmas Week at Family Sites

(Cook County) – The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) surprised residents with a special delivery.xmas party chicago heights 009.

One hundred fifty-six ENERGY STAR refrigerators were delivered to HACC family sites in Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, and Wheeling – just in time for the holidays.

Residents were thrilled to receive the new refrigerators and assisted the delivery teams in identifying the housing units and placement. The new energy efficient refrigerators are 9% more cost efficient and will maximize energy and dollar savings.

“We are transitioning to more energy efficient models with efficient lighting, heating, cooling, and insulation. These gradual upgrades can make a difference and result in savings for families who are struggling to pay utility bills and make ends meet,” said HACC executive director Richard Monocchio.

Several of the family sites also celebrated at Christmas parties for the children with gifts, caroling and food.

The old refrigerators and components were removed and properly recycled. It is estimated that more than 170 million refrigerators are in use and are over 10 years old.
