HACC offers Low Income Public Housing and Affordable Multi-Family Housing to qualifying residents.

Low Income Public Housing

The HACC offers these types of public housing:

  • Elderly Designated Communities which house persons 62 years and older and near elderly persons aged 50-61 years;
  • Elderly/Disabled Designated Communities which house persons 62 years of age and older and any persons with disabilities who are 18 years of age and older;
  • Family Communities and Scattered Sites which are communities that have one to five bedrooms and are predominantly households with children.

How to Apply

  1. Review our list of Housing Opportunities currently available.

  2. Submit an application for open waiting lists by clicking the link below. Applications submitted for closed lists will not be accepted.

  3. Review of your application will be conducted to confirm eligibility for placement on the waiting list.

  4. Periodically the housing authority will request that you update your interest in housing opportunities. You will need to reply to these notices. All address changes should be completed by submitting updated information to the housing authority in writing.

  5. You will be contacted by the Eligibility department once your application has reached the top of the list.

Affordable Multi-Family Housing

The Housing Authority of Cook County currently offers Elderly/Disabled Designated Communities which house persons 62 years of age and older and any persons with disabilities who are 18 years of age and older in our Affordable Communities.

How to Apply
