The HACC partners with more than 6,500 private property owners to provide rental units to families in suburban Cook County in need of quality, affordable housing through the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. In addition to the satisfaction of making a difference in the community, benefits of participating in the HCV Program include:
- Free Yearly Inspections
- Free Marketing – Owners can list available units by posting at ILHousingSearch.org free of charge. This website serves HCV clients and market rate renters.
- Market Rents – The HACC will pay what your unit is worth in comparison to similar units in the area, conducting a rent reasonableness survey at the time a client moves in.
- Guaranteed Timely Payments – As long as the unit is in Housing Quality Standards (HQS) compliance, the Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) are deposited directly into your checking or savings account with a receipt you can view online or print for your records. If you do not have a checking or savings account, the HACC will provide a debit card where your HAP will be deposited each month.
- Tax Savings – Units in qualified townships and census tracts may qualify for a reduction in property taxes when they rent to HCV clients. Read more about the tax savings program
